But he was aware of his mother&#8217;s hoarding, he said. Every time he spoke to her, he encouraged her to get help cleaning it or just move out, he said. After a while, he said he felt helpless.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;She was smart as a tack,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There is not a court in America that would have declared her incompetent. &#8230; That was her little world and she never was leaving it.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/articles.chicagotribune.com\/2012-02-15\/news\/ct-met-worth-hoarder-20120216_1_heart-disease-mounds-return-home\"><br \/>\nSource<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;It was sad the way she lived. It was sad the way she died. And she shouldn&#8217;t have died this way,&#8221; said Bill Scheibe. &#8220;She is still my mother and she&#8217;s still somebody&#8217;s mother. She&#8217;s not just a piece of trash.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite living in the home, son Frank Scheibe says he&#8217;s not sure when his mother died. &#8220;I love her very much. She&#8217;s very much missed,&#8221; he told ABC7.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\" http:\/\/abclocal.go.com\/wls\/story?section=news\/local&amp;id=8544654&amp;rss=rss-wls-article-8544654\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Scheibe said his brother Frank, who served in the Air Force in the 1980s, suffered a nervous breakdown during his time in the service. Since then, his older brother has struggled with mental health issues and has lived with his parents. He&#8217;s been unemployed for the last six to seven years, Scheibe said.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;He\u2019s never been the same,<\/em>&#8221; Scheibe said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\" http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/local\/breaking\/chi-elderly-woman-found-buried-under-trash-in-suburban-home-20120214,0,5132440.story\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Knolmayer said police do not suspect foul play, and said no charges would be filed against Scheibe\u2019s 46-year-old son Frank, who also lived in the home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was almost like two separate living quarters. She lived [split level home] down stairs and he lived upstairs,\u201d Knolmayer said. \u201cAccording to his statements, he wasn\u2019t allowed downstairs and he respected her wishes.\u201d<br \/>\n<a href=\" http:\/\/chicago.cbslocal.com\/2012\/02\/15\/woman-found-dead-under-mound-of-trash-in-worth-home\/\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Scheibe declined to talk about the collection of trash and said he hadn\u2019t been inside the house in 20 years.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf you grew up with a hoarder, would you want to go back?\u201d he said. \u201cYou love the people, but would you go back?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Scheibe said his mother also was always picking up coins.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd since Saturday, when I went to the house, I\u2019ve been finding money,\u201d he said. \u201cI found a penny in the police station on Saturday, found a penny there Tuesday, I found a dollar by my car, and found a quarter today.
